Baptism

What is <span class="highlight-text">Baptism?</span>

What is Baptism?

Baptism comes from the word “baptize,” meaning to immerse. It is a symbolic, outward, and public expression of faith in Jesus– representing His death, resurrection, and new life in you, and your commitment to follow Him. Baptism comes after salvation. It is not required for salvation, but the Bible teaches that anyone who repents of their sin and believes in Christ as their Savior should be baptized in water. Baptism doesn’t get you to heaven—it announces to everyone where you’re headed!

Who is Baptism for?

Baptism is for anyone who has chosen to follow Jesus and understands what it means to repent. Because we believe deeply that true repentance is an essential step of fatih in Jesus, we encourage families to wait until children are 8 years old before being baptized. We know younger kids have a special love for God, but often aren’t able to fully grasp the meaning of repentance or eternity. While there can be rare exceptions, we want every child to take this step with clarity and a sincere desire to follow Him.

There are several opportunities for baptism throughout the year.
